Position Summary
The Equipment Operator I performs manual labor and operates light equipment on construction and maintenanceThe Equipment Operator I performs manual labor and operates light equipment on construction and maintenanceprojects such as highways, parking lots, and buildings. Work involves use of simple hand tools, operationsof trucks, light construction and maintenance equipment. Equipment Operator I will assist in the operationof large and specialized equipment, such as paving machines, excavators, loaders etc. Equipment OperatorI may also perform such duties as cleaning culverts, guardrail repair, cutting grass, digging ditches etc.Position reports directly to the Working Foreman and/or Crew Leader.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to operator hand tools used in construction and maintenance
- Knowledge of traffic regulations for safe operation of trucks and light construction equipment
- Ability to follow written and oral instruction
- Ability to maintain vehicle records
- Knowledge of the operation of construction and maintenance equipment
- Willingness to work hours outside the normal shift during abnormal weather conditions
Experience and License Requirements
- Candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Candidate must possess a CDL driver's license with a clean driving record
- Candidate must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
